Rita
was born on March 24, 1962, in Teheran. She gave her first performance
at the age of 4, at an engagement party for her uncle. Rita and her
family made aliyah in 1970. Her husband is Rami Kleinstein, a popular
singer in his own right. They have two daughters.
Rita rocketed into public awareness in Israel with her song, "Shvil Habricha" (Escape Route), in the pre-Eurovision competition in 1986. While Rita didn't win, she quickly became a crowd favorite in Israel.
